Christian value of the half term – Friendship

Dear Parents/Carers,

At Myddle, our Christian values guide and inspire us each day. This half term, we are focusing on the value of Friendship — building positive relationships, showing kindness and respect, and supporting one another through good times and challenges.

Through our worship, lessons and daily interactions, we will encourage children to reflect on friendship by:

– Learning from the example of Jesus, who showed friendship, compassion and care to everyone He met.
– Exploring the qualities of a good friend, including kindness, loyalty, honesty and forgiveness.
– Encouraging children to include others, resolve disagreements peacefully, and value the importance of belonging to a caring community.

We invite you to join us in exploring this value at home by talking about what makes a good friend and how we can show friendship to others each day. This could include discussing ways to be kind, helping someone who may feel left out, and reflecting on how strong friendships help us grow in confidence and happiness. Please see the link for ideas on how you can explore this value together as a family.

Hello Yellow – World Mental Health Day

Dear parents and carers,
Our school will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 10th October (World
Mental Health Day) to raise awareness and funds for YoungMinds, the UK’s
leading charity for young people’s mental health.
No young person should feel alone with their mental health and that’s why
Hello Yellow matters. We’re taking this opportunity as a school community to
come together and show our students that we’re with them and they’re never
alone with their mental health.

We’ll be taking part by wearing YELLOW on Friday 10th October.

You can also donate to support our school’s fundraising YoungMinds – Myddle CE Primary School

Most importantly, we want to share the resources which YoungMinds offer to
support parents and carers if you ever need help and advice to support your
children. This includes:
• online resources (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/)
• a phone line, open 9.30am-4pm (0808 802 5544)
• an online chat for parents and carers to speak to trained
professionals if you’re concerned about your children’s mental
health (www.youngminds.org.uk/parents-helpline/)

Online Safety

In today’s digital world, children have greater access to technology than ever before. While the internet offers many educational and social benefits, it’s essential to ensure that children stay safe online. We teach our students about the importance of staying safe online and the lasting impact their digital footprint can have on their future. However, we greatly appreciate the support you provide at home in reinforcing these vital lessons.

We encourage you to:
✅ Monitor your child’s online activity – Know what apps, games, and websites they are using.
✅ Set parental controls – Use filters and privacy settings to protect them from inappropriate content.
✅ Encourage open conversations – Talk to your child about online dangers, including cyberbullying and speaking to strangers.
✅ Promote safe habits – Teach them to use strong passwords, avoid sharing personal information, and think before they post.

For more information on keeping your child safe online, we have compiled a selection of parent guides covering key topics such as age ratings, gaming, popular apps, and managing screen time. You can access these resources on our Online Safety page here: https://myddleschool.org.uk/home/parents-area/handbook/online-safety/

We appreciate your support in helping to create a safe and responsible online environment for our children.
