Romans

To start the Autumn term, we are going to link a lot of our learning to the Romans. It would be great if the children could make their own Roman inspired artefacts and bring them in to display in school ( helmets, shields or even a poster or fact file).

‘Area sports’ morning at Bomere Heath 2024

It was a fantastic morning at Bomere Heath today with our ‘Area Sports’ day. 21 pupils from Y4,5 and 6 represented the school in a variety of different sports day based activities and they all performed superbly well.

Aria and Ben finished 1st in the sack race, with Rose, Bertie and Sienna all finishing 2nd. Matilda, Caspar and Reuben finished 1st in the egg and spoon races.

Isla, and Sarah finished 1st in the skipping events with Mia and Ewan finishing in 2nd place.

Peter won his ‘potato’ race and our Y5&6 boys relay team (Dexter, Archie, Ben and Reuben) also won their race too.

Well done to all of the children who took part.

Y4&5 Girls cricket event

Well done to the Y4&5 girls who were great representatives for the school this morning at a cricket taster day. They learned bowling, fielding and batting skills which will help them in competitive school cricket events next year. Thank you to Mrs Harris for accompanying the children to this event.

KS2 Cross-country at The Quarry

Congratulations to the 24 children in KS2 who were selected to represent the school in a cross-country event at The Quarry this afternoon. The event was really well organised by Shrewsbury School and it was very kind of them to transport the pupils using their minibuses. Thanks to Mrs Harris and our sports coach Neil for attending this event with the pupils.

KS2 Clive Cross-Country event

A huge well done to all of the participants from Myddle in the KS2 Clive Cross-Country event on Saturday. In what was difficult weather conditions above and underfoot, the pupils produced some outstanding running, both individually and as a team. Also a big thank you to all of the parents who went to support and supervise the children at the event.

Y3&4 tennis day

Well done to the 10 pupils in Y3&4 who went to Ellesmere College today to take part in a tennis taster day. They all really enjoyed themselves and were great representatives for the school! Thank you to Mrs Hulme for attending with them.

Number Day

Today, children took part in Number Day.

All the children were placed in their sport’s day houses for the day and rotated around four different maths related activities in each class.

In Panda Class, children learnt how to complete Sudoku puzzles using colour and shapes to help their understanding, while in Tiger Class they played bingo and used the laptops to access x tables rock stars to work on their x tables. In Rhino class, they played board games to work on their number skills and calculations and in Jaguar Class, children played games including a musical chairs style fitness activity involving number as well as calculation games using positive and negative numbers.

It was a great day and it was so nice to see our older children being able to support and encourage our younger children. We would definitely like to do something like this again. Thank you to all staff and teaching assistants for helping to organise such a successful day.

Thank you also to all parents for helping the children dress so creatively. I think the children have had a great day!

KS2 Indoor Athletics event

Well done to the KS2 Indoor Athletics squad who competed against other local schools this morning at the Corbet School. Results are yet to be announced but all of the pupils gave their all in their individual and team events. Particularly well done to the children who achieved personal medals in the ‘field’ events for being in the first 3 places.

Science in forest school

Rhinos really enjoyed our outdoor learning last week. They used classification keys to identify a range of invertebrates that they found hidden in forest school.
