Attendance

By law, all children of compulsory school age must get a suitable, full-time education. Parents are responsible for ensuring that their children attend school regularly.

Good attendance at school is vital to every child’s education and we expect parents to ensure their children arrive in school on time every day and only keep them at home if they are genuinely unwell. When children are unable to attend school we ask that parents telephone or email school to let us know why. Registration takes place at 8.55am. If pupils are not in class by 9.25am and we have not received a reason for absence we will contact their parent / carer. If a child arrives late or leaves school early, for example due to a medical appointment, they need to be signed in or out at reception.

The school works closely with the Education Welfare Service and where there are concerns regarding a child’s attendance we will work in partnership with all concerned to resolve the problem.
