Y5&6 Jaguar class Remembrance Day flags

This afternoon, the children in Jaguar class produced some excellent ‘Remembrance Day’ flag designs, which shall be taken to the church for Thursday’s two minutes silence.

Here’s what the children created…..

Y5&6 Jaguar class PE – Hockey

Today, the children started their first hockey session in PE. They used socks and shin pads from school to protect their shins however, next week, they can bring in their own from home (if they have any) to use. If not, the children can continue to use what they wore today.

Y6 Sports Leaders

The group of Y6 sports leaders have been doing a great job during this half term to make sure that they have provided children throughout the school with the opportunity to take part in different sporting activities during lunchtime. They announce their weekly winners in Friday’s celebration assembly and present them with certificates which they have created themselves. This week, they held a skipping competition…….

Y5&6 Music

We are so lucky at Myddle CE Primary to have Mrs Kessel-fell teaching the pupils their music lessons every Thursday. This half term, she has been teaching the children the ukelele. Here are some of the pupils continuing to practise with this instrument this week.

Y5&6 Tag Rugby Tournament

Well done to the ten Y5&6 boys and girls who represented Myddle CE Primary at a Tag Rugby competition this morning at Corbet School. The children performed very well and gained a great amount from the experience, winning two and drawing one of their five games. A special mention to Sophie, our player of the tournament, who made some great runs with the ball, got on the scoresheet herself and knew the rules of the game really well. It was great to have the opportunity to take part in competitive fixtures again against other local schools.

Here are some of the photographs of the team in action………

Y5&6 Jaguar Science – Forces

This week in Science, as part of our ‘Forces’ topic, the pupils in Y5&6 have been investigating air resistance. Each member of Y5 was guided by a Y6 pupil to plan an investigation, gather their results and write a conclusion based on what they found out.

Here the pupils are writing their plans and then performing two sprints to identify how the parachutes create more air resistance on the runners.

Y5&6 Jaguar class PE

The children are becoming more confident and demonstrating an increased level of skill in rugby and football this week. Big thanks to our coach Connor for all his dedication despite a knee injury.

Y5&6 Jaguar Homework 10.9.21

The children in Y5&6 have been given their first homework of the new term yesterday. There is a reading homework and a maths homework based on our learning of Place Value, which has been our focus in maths so far. Please ensure that the children show the same amount of pride in the presentation of their homework as what is expected of them in the classroom. This means that they need to use a pencil / handwriting pen to complete it rather than any gel pens, coloured pencils or felt tips. It needs to be completed and handed back in at school next Wednesday at the latest.

Kind regards

Mr Hughes
