Football match

A busy day ended with a friendly football fixture between selected pupils in Y2&3 against a girls team from Y4,5 and 6. After a tight opening, it was 1-1 at half time with Chloe Williams cancelling out Alfie Russell’s strike. The second half brought many more goals with Alfie Russell (2), Sophie Carr and Alex Fairley extending the Y2&3 team’s lead. Chloe Williams fired home her second from the penalty spot to gain a consolation goal for the Y4,5 & 6 girls to make the final score 5-2. It was a great experience for all of the children with many of them playing in their first ever game. Well done everybody and thank you to the parents who came to support their children.

Singalong

The children put on a great show this afternoon with their singing and ukulele playing. A big thank you to Mrs Kessel-fell for all of her hard work with the children this term.

Skip2BFit Day

All of the children have taken part in a Skip2BFit challenge today. They worked really hard for 30 minutes of skipping and tried to achieve their highest score within a 2 minute period, with their scores being recorded on their skipping rope handles. The skipper with the highest score in each class was given their own certificate and a prize for the best skipper in the school went to Alfie Ridgeway Jones. The best skipping teacher was Mrs Williams!

Girls Football Match

It was a great experience for 9 of our girls football squad this afternoon when we played against Mount Pleasant Primary School. After conceding a very early goal, the girls started to find their confidence and dominated the game for large periods. Izzy and Daisy were strong in defence and Merci was as reliable as ever by pulling off a couple of important saves. Our midfielders and strikers worked tirelessly and had most of the possession but we just couldn’t take our chances in front of goal. Despite going 3-0 down, we kept persevering and eventually got our reward when Poppy fired home from the penalty spot to make the final score Mount Pleasant 3-1 Myddle. Hopefully the girls will continue to practise during the Summer holidays and take part in the girls football training / matches that we shall be organising when they return.

Now it’s the turn of the other girls in the squad to play their first game next Tuesday after school when they face a selected group of Y2&3 children also from Myddle.

It has been a beautiful day to cook marshmallows under the trees.  We found a frog and watered the plants, picked some raspberries and cooked in the mud kitchen.

KS2 Fencing Day

The children in Year 3,4 and 5 really enjoyed learning the sport of fencing this morning. Starting in September, they will be given the opportunity to attend an extra-curricular fencing & archery club, organised and delivered by the same coaching team that taught them today. Further details regarding this club will appear on the first week back. in September.

Y2&3 Dodgeball

Well done to the Y2&3 Mixed dodgeball team who finished in 2nd place, narrowly behind St Andrews, Nesscliffe at Corbett School this afternoon. They played six games in total, winning four of them. Some excellent catching, throwing and dodging skills were on display and the children demonstrated a competitive but fair display. The future looks bright for the Myddle Dodgers!
