Positive Case – Jaguar Class

We have had a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Jaguar Class.

We would encourage everyone in this Class to book a PCR test as soon as possible. Please note a Lateral Flow test is not acceptable for those classed as close contacts.

Please do not send your child in to school if they have any COVID-19 symptoms. If you have any questions please refer to the local authority guidance which was sent home with every child on Friday. A key point in this guidance is that your child cannot come to school if there is a positive case in your household.

Y5&6 Tag Rugby Tournament

Well done to the ten Y5&6 boys and girls who represented Myddle CE Primary at a Tag Rugby competition this morning at Corbet School. The children performed very well and gained a great amount from the experience, winning two and drawing one of their five games. A special mention to Sophie, our player of the tournament, who made some great runs with the ball, got on the scoresheet herself and knew the rules of the game really well. It was great to have the opportunity to take part in competitive fixtures again against other local schools.

Here are some of the photographs of the team in action………

Corbet Open Evening – Virtual Event – Year 6 Parents

Y5&6 Jaguar Science – Forces

This week in Science, as part of our ‘Forces’ topic, the pupils in Y5&6 have been investigating air resistance. Each member of Y5 was guided by a Y6 pupil to plan an investigation, gather their results and write a conclusion based on what they found out.

Here the pupils are writing their plans and then performing two sprints to identify how the parachutes create more air resistance on the runners.

Y5&6 – Welcome back Jaguar class!

Welcome back everybody to a brand new school year. I’m really looking forward to getting started and welcoming our new Y5&6s into the classroom once more. PE and Sports Clubs

The teaching of PE shall continue to be on Wednesdays and Fridays. Children should attend school wearing their PE kits on these days. Our first PE session shall begin this Friday 3rd September. After school football clubs shall be starting on the week beginning 13th September. The KS2 GIRLS football club shall be on a Wednesday and the KS2 BOYS football club shall be on a Friday. Both clubs shall be from 3:15pm to 4:15pm and delivered by Connor from The Wright Way Coaching group. Further details regarding these clubs shall be heading your way by the end of this week.

Homework and Reading

Every Friday (apart from this week), the children shall be given a maths and reading homework, along with their weekly spellings. Please ensure that the children show pride in the way that they complete their homework, as well as using suitable writing equipment. The homework needs to be returned by the following Wednesday at the latest to allow me the time to check it prior to the next homework being given. I would like the children to be as independent as possible with their homework but if they need any support at any point, they can ask parents / myself the following day.

It would be very beneficial for the pupils if they could be reading aloud at home at least x3 per week. There shall be a termly class reading competition for the children who read aloud the most at home during the term. The children have been put into groups in the class as their shall be an individual and a group prize.

Class Dojo

The children in Y5 shall be bringing home information to you on Thursday regarding how to access our Class Dojo page. This will allow you to contact myself if and when necessary. For the parents of the pupils in Y6, it has remained the same as last year.

Curriculum: (See attached weekly timetable) This is a draft timetable and therefore will change slightly depending on the position of worships / assemblies during the day / week.
