Tiger Class – Home learning – Monday 25th January

On Monday 25th January, Mrs Williams will be leading a whole Federation worship on Zoom, at 9am. Details on how to join us will be published on our Class Dojo (to keep it private).

Following on from that, Year 2 Tigers are invited to join Mrs Crowe in a Zoom call, at 9.30am for a briefing of the day’s lessons.

At 10am, it’s Year 3 turn to catch-up with Mrs Crowe and be briefed about the day’s activities.

In the afternoon, the Year 2 spelling test will be live on Zoom, at 2pm. Children will also have a chance to ask any questions about today’s lessons or share their work.

All details for logging into our Zoom calls have been sent to parents via ClassDojo.

Our PE Coach (Mr Wright) is publishing 30 mins long fitness lessons on their You Tube channel. There will be new lessons on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This would be a great alternative to our usual PE sessions during lockdown, particularly when the weather is not suitable for outdoor exercise. The Wright Way Group Coaching

The BBC Bitesize programme today is also focused on Space, and can be watched on BBC iPlayer.

Last Summer, during the first lockdown, we have completed a Space weekly project, aimed at KS1. There is also a project aimed at Lower KS2 (Years 3 and 4), which some of you might enjoy: Y3_4-Learning-Project-SPACE

These activities can be complete throughout this half-term / lockdown.

For those who missed the KS1 Space project the first time around, there are more suitable activities for Year 2 in that one: KS1-Learning-Project-SPACE

Weekly assignments for Maths Shed and Spelling Shed will be updated tomorrow, once both year groups have done their weekly tests: www.edshed.com

Don’t forget to read everyday. If you need other books at the relevant level, please send me a message, or access a variety of e-books on the Oxford Owl e-book library. Please have a look at our main Class page for many other free resources you might find useful.

Well done!

At the end of week three of home learning, we just wanted to say a huge well done to you all. We know it is not easy – we have lots of staff here in the same situation so we really do empathise with how hard it is!

Don’t be hard on yourselves or your children if you didn’t understand or couldn’t keep up. Let us know if you need anything and we will try to facilitate it.

Now that we are more into the swing of things, the weekly timetable has evolved so you may find that you have more Zoom sessions, so please check the website regularly.

Most of our children are at home, and so they are our top priority. Please be assured that the same work is being done by the home-learners as the ones in school. The teacher’s are working tirelessly to ensure that gaps don’t emerge between the two groups, but we need all families on board with this as well as engaging with everything that is on offer to the best of their abilities.

If you are not engaging with the Zoom sessions or submitting work regularly, you must let the teacher know why.  As a school, we have to record home-school engagement, just as we would usually take a register in school. We are asked for this data by the local authority regularly and the Education Welfare Officer will contact families who aren’t engaging.

Many thanks again to you all – keep up the good work and have a lovely weekend. Mrs Williams

Tiger Class online timetable

As per message on ClassDojo, next weekly we are starting more online sessions for the children learning from home, in addition to the video lessons already being offered.

All details have been sent via Dojo private messages, including login details to all sessions.
