Acts of Worship:
Collective Worship is a very special part of the day for us. It is a time when we are all assembled together and aims to give pupils and school staff alike the opportunity to:
•Express praise and thanksgiving to God
•Foster respect and deepen spiritual awareness
•Reflect on the character of God and on the teachings of Christ
•Affirm Christian values and attitudes
•Share each other’s joys and challenges
•Celebrate special times in the Christian calendar
Worship Council:
At Myddle, we have a small group of pupils that are nominated to be members of the school’s Worship Council.
The role of the Worship Council:
- To take an active role in worship
- To help plan and deliver weekly class worship
- To take part in special events
- To evaluate worship and give valuable feedback – Pupil Voice
Prayers
Giving pupils the opportunity for reflection and prayer is an integral part of worship at Myddle. As well as prayers linked to the Key value, pupils also learn to recite The Lord’s Prayer and The Federation Prayer.
Prayers are also recited in each class before lunch, to bless our the food we are fortunate to receive and at home time, to thank the lord for our wonderful school and the learning opportunities created.
Pupils of other Faiths:
We have several pupils from other faith traditions and the beliefs and values of those pupils are also recognised. Stories from other scriptures are included in worship and provision for specific religious observances is made.
Church Visits:
We have extremely close links with St. Peter’s Church in Myddle. The Reverend regularly visits the school, attending RE lessons as well as conducting our weekly worship every Thursday in school and at church (on a 2 week rotation). Being able to attend church on a regular basis is always special and means the world to our children and staff. We also attend church at times of celebration and significant Christian festivals such as Harvest, Christmas and Easter. Children and staff in school also contribute to the church newsletter and help fundraise at church events.
