People Who Help Us

This week we have been looking at people who help us, the children have been learning all about dentists how to look after their teeth, and what happens when you go to the dentist. They have enjoyed lots of role play, crafting and stories.

New Nursery Leader

We are really pleased to let you know that Clare Evans will be taking over as our nursery leader in January. Clare already works with our Snow-leopards every Friday and as a TA in school the rest of the week. Clare has had extensive nursery experience prior to joining Myddle and can’t wait to get back into a nursery setting. Clare knows all of the children really well, so we hope it will be a smooth transition for you all.

We thank Liz for looking after the nursery so competently over the last few weeks; Liz will now move into her new role as the Panda Class teaching assistant.

We also welcome Katie Hinton to the EYFS team. Katie has worked with us a lot on a casual basis and absolutely LOVES this age group. She will now work every Wednesday in Snow-Leopards and every Friday in Panda class.  Fran will continue to be in nursery full time, so we have a great team in place.

Any questions, please do catch a member of staff and ask, email the school admin or call in. In the new year, we will open the doors to parents and carers so that you can meet everyone.

Thank you all for your on-going support.

Nursery Issue

Unfortunately we have unwelcome visitors in Nursery; we spotted two mice this morning in the setting!

The children were relocated straight away into the hall, where they spent the day. Pest Control are due to visit school tomorrow (Friday) and we will update you on their findings/timescales for resolving the problem.

Our aim is to “continue as normal” in the hall or within the Panda classroom, depending on numbers. Please note, collection and drop off will be either in the outside area of Nursery or in the Panda Veranda. A staff member will be waiting in this area for them. The main Nursery door will not be in use.

If you have any questions or concerns please give school a ring on 01939 290834.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause as we try to get it resolved as quickly as possible.

Nursery Opening Times

Please can parents note that Nursery opening time is 8:55am. Please either wait at the gate by Panda Class entrance or by the main nursery door. A member of Nursery staff will collect your child from either of these entrances.

The doors will remain locked until this time.

We appreciate your support with this.

Nursery News

We are very sad to announce that Jodie Phillips, our lovely nursery leader, is leaving us for pastures new. Jodie has accepted a new job as a family worker with Shropshire Early Help, which we know she will be fantastic at. However, we are of course very sad to lose her from our team at Myddle. Jodie has been with us for 7 years and taken the nursery from strength to strength with her creativity, her management skills and her love of children. We know you will join us to wish her every success in her new job and to thank her for all her hard work at Myddle, giving our little ones the best possible start to their school life.

We will let you know who Jodie’s successor will be shortly and we will ensure that there is plenty of  information sharing so that the transition can be as seamless as possible.

Jodie’s last day will be Friday 26th November.

Snow Leopards

Good Afternoon Snow Leopards,

We hope you all had a fantastic summer. The children have settled in well and have all had a busy first week back.

Here is some information about our Autumn term:

Class Dojo
If you haven’t already, please make sure you sign up to our Class Dojo. This will be the easiest way for us to communicate. Let me know if you have any problems and I will do my best to help.

Routine and Topic
I have attached a copy of our routine below.
daily routine1
We link our topic with Reception Class, so this term we will be focusing on ‘People who help us’
We have lots of fun activities planned and we cannot wait to share our pictures and creations with you all. We may need your help with a few of these activities so please keep your eye on Dojo for updates. An overview of the week ahead will also be added to Dojo so you can see what your child will be getting up too.

Celebration Assembly
Every Friday morning we will be joining the rest of the school in the hall for Celebration Assembly. We will be giving out stickers and certificates for our ‘Star of the Week’ and the child with ‘the most Dojo’s’

Extra Activities
We will be continuing with Music, PE and Exploring Outdoors this term.
Music with Fran – Tuesday 11am
PE with TWWG – Friday 9:30am
Exploring Outdoors with Jodie – Wednesday 11am

Please ensure your child is wearing suitable clothing and footwear on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Reminders
Could you please ensure your child comes to nursery with:
1. Spare clothes – We do often get messy!
2. Nappies, wipes and cream
3. A water bottle
4. Suitable outdoor clothing – We do try and go outdoors in most weather conditions!

BBC Tiny Happy People

You may have heard on the news this week about how the pandemic has had a negative impact on young children’s communication and vocabulary development.

BBC Tiny Happy People aims to support parents and caregivers in developing their children’s communication skills. They have put together simple activities and play ideas, as well as information about the science behind children’s early development.

Anything you can do at home to help improve your child’s communication and vocabulary has a huge impact on their future reading and writing. The activities and ideas are groups into categories from pregnancy to 5 years old.
