Nursery News

We are very sad to announce that Jodie Phillips, our lovely nursery leader, is leaving us for pastures new. Jodie has accepted a new job as a family worker with Shropshire Early Help, which we know she will be fantastic at. However, we are of course very sad to lose her from our team at Myddle. Jodie has been with us for 7 years and taken the nursery from strength to strength with her creativity, her management skills and her love of children. We know you will join us to wish her every success in her new job and to thank her for all her hard work at Myddle, giving our little ones the best possible start to their school life.

We will let you know who Jodie’s successor will be shortly and we will ensure that there is plenty of  information sharing so that the transition can be as seamless as possible.

Jodie’s last day will be Friday 26th November.

Snow Leopards

Good Afternoon Snow Leopards,

We hope you all had a fantastic summer. The children have settled in well and have all had a busy first week back.

Here is some information about our Autumn term:

Class Dojo
If you haven’t already, please make sure you sign up to our Class Dojo. This will be the easiest way for us to communicate. Let me know if you have any problems and I will do my best to help.

Routine and Topic
I have attached a copy of our routine below.
daily routine1
We link our topic with Reception Class, so this term we will be focusing on ‘People who help us’
We have lots of fun activities planned and we cannot wait to share our pictures and creations with you all. We may need your help with a few of these activities so please keep your eye on Dojo for updates. An overview of the week ahead will also be added to Dojo so you can see what your child will be getting up too.

Celebration Assembly
Every Friday morning we will be joining the rest of the school in the hall for Celebration Assembly. We will be giving out stickers and certificates for our ‘Star of the Week’ and the child with ‘the most Dojo’s’

Extra Activities
We will be continuing with Music, PE and Exploring Outdoors this term.
Music with Fran – Tuesday 11am
PE with TWWG – Friday 9:30am
Exploring Outdoors with Jodie – Wednesday 11am

Please ensure your child is wearing suitable clothing and footwear on Wednesdays and Fridays.

BBC Tiny Happy People

You may have heard on the news this week about how the pandemic has had a negative impact on young children’s communication and vocabulary development.

BBC Tiny Happy People aims to support parents and caregivers in developing their children’s communication skills. They have put together simple activities and play ideas, as well as information about the science behind children’s early development.

Anything you can do at home to help improve your child’s communication and vocabulary has a huge impact on their future reading and writing. The activities and ideas are groups into categories from pregnancy to 5 years old.

Nursery Parents – Collection and Drop off

We are continually reviewing our collection and drop off arrangements in school to ensure there is sufficient space for everyone to stay safe.

We have noticed that Panda and Nursery areas gets very busy in a fairly small area of the playground. With this in mind, we are proposing to ask parents of Nursery children to arrive at school via the usual main school entrance, then follow the one way system down the playground to the bottom exit gate. We would then ask that you drop off/collect your child from the main entrance of Nursery (by the bike shed).

We are hopeful that this will alleviate some of the congestion but rest assured that we will monitor it closely and adjust this if necessary.

If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to call school on 01939 290834.

Thank you for your co-operation

Mrs Smith

Thank You

To all Parents and Careers,

From all of us at Myddle, we just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the support you have given us in helping to teach your children over the past 8 weeks. We know it hasn’t been easy, with many of you juggling work and caring for siblings while managing home schooling tasks.

We can’t begin to tell you how rewarding it has been to be regularly receiving feedback and photos of the children’s work. We know how hard this has been to keep on top of and we really have appreciated it.

We are all so excited to welcome your children back to school on Monday where we can take back the reins and give you all a very well deserved break.

We hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

Many thanks

Mr Glover

Snow Leopards – World Book Day

World Book Day

Snow Leopards.

To celebrate World Book Day this year I thought we would focus on the story

‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ By Judith Kerr

If you do not have this book you can find an interactive copy on YouTube. Encourage your child to listen carefully to the story, talk about the story once it has finished to see if your child can recall what happened.

Please, continue to read this story throughout the week and join us with some fun Tiger themed activities!
http://worldbookday.com – Has lots of stories and resources for you to use.
This is where some of our activities have come from.

~ Draw a picture of your own Tiger tea party on this bordered paper. (link below)

~ Use the word mat to notice familiar pictures/words from the book. See if your child can retell the stories using the word mat to prompt them. (link below)

~ If the Tiger ate everything out of your house, what would you buy? (link below)
Draw your food on the shopping list

~ Have your very own tea party – invite some of your soft toys along
Take photos for us to see!

~ What was your favourite part of the story?
Parents if you could write down their favourite part and send it across via Dojo

~ Lastly, ‘If a teacher came for tea’ – if myself or Fran came for tea what would you feed us! Draw our feast on the plates (link below)

We hope you will join us and enjoy the story ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’. Let us see what you have been up to on Dojo, we look forward to seeing it.

Snow Leopards

Good Morning Snow Leopards.
We are very excited to be hopefully seeing you all again very soon!

This week’s agenda for nursery:
We have been kindly donated a Puppet Show. We will be designing and making our own puppets using socks, googly eyes, craft pieces, templates (links below) and paint.
Once made and dried the children will create stories and perform at the Puppet Show!

Maybe you could join in at home! We would love to see your creations.

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/au-t2-d-119-design-and-create-a-hand-puppet-craft-instructions

Find a space around your house – over the arm of the chair, the table, the worktop or if you are feeling creative you could make your own theatre out of a cupboard box! Anywhere you could hide behind to perform your puppet show will be perfect.
Please feel free to record your show and upload them onto Dojo. We would love to see what you have come up with!

We watched a short clip on puppet shows on the whiteboard to give the children an idea of what a puppet show really is. I have added the links below.

On the topic of socks we have linked this to maths – matching the odd socks, counting the socks and attempting simple number problems.
– Can you match up the socks?
– Can you count the pairs?
– Can you count them individually?
– Are there any odd socks?
– Can you hang them on a washing line? (fine motor skills)
– Can you work out simple number problems?

Story time: Simon Sock
(The story can be found on YouTube)

I am always available on Dojo if you have any queries or questions
Take care

Jodie Phillips
