Reading The Game Y5&6

Dear Parents,

If your child is in Jaguar class (Y5&6) this academic year, please ensure that they have  their PE kits on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting on the first day back at school.

On Tuesday 4th September, they will be receiving the first of their 6 ‘Reading the Game’ sessions with Shrewsbury Town in the Community. The programme captures the motivational power of football and sport to inspire young people to read more and improve their English skills. It delivers the statutory requirements of the new national curriculum.

‘Reading The Game’ is a 6 week (12 hour) programme. Each session is split, ½ classroom based and 1/2 practical based. Classroom sessions are teacher led using STFC resources and supported by STFC coaches and volunteers. Practical sessions are led by sport teachers or AFPE qualified coaches.

Subject to availability the class will receive a player visit and a visit from Lenny the Lion-Shrewsbury Town’s official mascot. Each pupil will be given a Lenny log book, an opportunity to win free tickets to a Shrewsbury Town match and a completion certificate.

Shropshire School Summer Games

Huge congratulations to the 14 children who represented Myddle CE Primary School and North Shropshire at Sundorne Sports Village today. Having already qualified through to this event by winning their local tournaments, they continued to show their qualities against other winning teams from the region. Overall, the archery team finished in 2nd place, narrowly missing out behind Longden School, who represented Shrewsbury. In the tri-golf, East Shropshire were the winning team, but our players achieved their highest total of the year with 701 points. The actual Summer Games winning area was East Shropshire. Further details can be found on the School Summer Games website, Twitter and Facebook sites.

Jaguars design and plant a Victorian garden.

The Jaguar class had the most wonderful afternoon designing and planting a Victorian garden in forest school.  Thank you to Mrs Highfield and Miss Doogan for helping them.  We can’t wait to see the garden in full bloom very soon.

So Proud…

We were so proud of the Jaguars who took part in the tri-golf tournament and came back with gold medals.  Well done to all of the team, you were amazing!
