Y6 boys football at Shrewsbury Town FC

A fantastic effort from our Y6 boys football squad this morning, who were given the fantastic opportunity to play in a tournament on the Shrewsbury Town FC football pitch. They played five matches, winning two and drawing one of those matches, with goals from Elvin, Charlie and Oscar. The pupils all showed great ‘respect’, which was the theme of the event. Well done everybody. I hope that you enjoyed and will remember this amazing opportunity that Shrewsbury Town in the community provided. Thank you to Simon Tisdale for organising such a well-run event.

Y4,5 and 6 Girls Football

It’s great to see so many girls in KS2 enjoying their football and wanting to play competitive matches against other schools. Today, the 9 pupils who travelled to St Peter’s, Wem fought out a close 4-3 defeat in very hot conditions. Isla was fantastic in goal, including saving a penalty, whilst Arabella was lethal in attack; she certainly knows where the goal is, scoring twice and grabbing an assist in Aria’s goal too. Also a special mention to Sofia who defended superbly and showed great bravery and courage in her tackling. Well done to all of the girls who took part and thank you to the parents who helped to transport the children to this event.

Y6 Local History

A huge thank you to Mrs Everall, Mrs Savage and Mr Savage who met the Y6s at Myddle Castle this afternoon to give a talk to the children about the history of our locality. Mrs Savage also very kindly came back to school to answer questions that the Y6s had prepared to ask. They were all very keen to learn more about their local area.

U10s Boys football vs St Peter’s, Wem

Well done to the 8 boys in Y3,4 and 5 (Idris, Oliver, Mylo, Steven, Hugh, Reuben, Daniel and Fin) who represented the school superbly in a football matches against St Peter’s, Wem. In hot conditions, it was end to end in the first half, with a hat-trick from Steven ensuring that it was level 3-3 at half time. Congratulations to St Peter’s who went on to score 3 more goals in the second half to earn a 6-3 victory but it was a well-fought game throughout. Hopefully the boys enjoyed it and are keen for more games in the future. ⚽️

KS2 Girls Football Tournament

Well done to the 16 girls who represented the school superbly this morning in a Girls football tournament at Corbet School. Both of the teams gave their all and it was fantastic to see Arabella scoring her first goal for the school, as her target at the start of the year was to do just that! Hopefully there will be many more to come now!
Well done girls! Thank you to Mrs Emerton Maka and Mrs Hulme for taking the children to this event to give them the opportunity.

Well done to the pupils in Y6 who went to a T1 Rugby competition at Oswestry Rugby Club this morning. It was a really enjoyable, well-organised event and our pupils were all superb representatives for the school. They gave 100% in all of their 🏉matches and it was also fantastic to see their wonderful politeness to the staff members and coaches who helped to organise this event for them.

U11s boys football

A great performance from the U11s boys football team who were narrowly defeated 2-1 against Prees after school today. Oliver produced his usual amazing performance in goal, Mylo and William were outstanding in defence, Oliver and Seb worked their socks off in midfield and Elvin was clinical in front of goal when the chance came. It was a pleasure to watch such a great team performance. Thanks to the parents/grandparents who came along to watch and support the team.
