Round Up wk2

Welcome Back!  The children have settled very well into the new term.  Just a reminder that we ask parents to drop off at the pupil entrances and allow their children to put their own things away in their lockers.  This ensures there is no congestion in such a small space and the children are being encouraged to be independent. Please prompt your child to place dinner money or any letters/return slips in the relevant boxes in their classrooms.

Clubs:  All clubs are well subscribed but we have some spaces.  If your child is interested in taking part in an activity club please contact the School office – booking form below.

Schoolgateway:  Instructions on accessing our online payment system can be found below.  If you are having trouble please contact the School Office.

Tuck Shop:  The shop is open every Friday breaktime for just 20p per week.  If you would like to pay for a whole term please pop the money in a named envelope.  If you have any spare time on a Thursday afternoon and can help with cookery please speak to a member of staff.

Forest School:  Children must have their arms and legs covered and will need waterproofs and wellies.  Rhinos:  if you come in Forest School kit in the morning you will need uniform to change into!

Ukuleles:  If you have borrowed one from school could be we please have it back so that we can return it to the Music Service!  The children will be learning the flute this term.

Asthma:  All children on our records will have received new forms.  If your child has an inhaler and you have not received any forms please contact the School Office.

World War II Topic:  To support our topic we are hoping to build an Anderson Shelter.  If you have any sandbags, metal sheets, turf or an arch structure we can build over please let us know!  We aim to take all the children To Cosford Air Museum later in the term.

Our first week

We have settled in so well for our first week.  The children have been super stars and very confident.  We have done so well we were the winners of Scruffy the ‘BARK’ dog!

B = Behaviour

A = Attitude

R = Respect

K = Kindness

Keep your BARK bones safe.  When you have collected 5 give them to Mrs Goddard and she will make sure you get a certificate in Celebration Assembly.

Area of the classroom

We are beginning to build different areas within the classroom with the children’s help, learning how to use the areas safely and sensibly as we go.  We would like some help to fill the map display with lots of lovely pictures of journeys the children have been on. If you send in a photo we will put it up on the display.

Welcome to Rhino Class

Dear parents

It has been a real pleasure starting to get to know your children and I am very much looking forward to teaching them this year.

Between now and Christmas our topic will be RAF 100, focusing on World War1 but mainly on World War 2 and I’m sure they will find this a really interesting subject to investigate.  I’m hoping the homework jigsaw will come home with the children on Friday and you can get busy looking into this project at home with your children.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be due back in on a Friday.  Each week the children will get spellings to learn and a times table sheet to complete.  There will also be some work on growing a positive mindset which I think the children will enjoy.  The homework is not designed to be over onerous so please do come and see me if your child is finding it too much.  There will also be the homework jigsaw offering various creative tasks (not compulsory) for those of you that like to spend time with your children making fantastic art works and written work for our displays.

Forest School will be on Thursday mornings, PE will be on a Friday afternoon and we are super lucky to have a dance teacher coming in on Wednesday afternoons so please can children have their kits in school for these lessons.  Music and singing will also be on a Wednesday afternoon.

All children should now have a reading book and a reading diary, the children have been briefed on how to complete the reading diary.  I have heard most of the children read over the last two days and checked they are on the correct books, by Friday I should have completed this process.  If you have any concerns about reading  please don’t hesitate to pop in and have a chat.

My door is always open, I would much rather you pop in, ring or email with any concerns at all.  As always my main aim is to ensure the children are happy in school so they can reach their full potential.

Mrs Wenlock
