Activity 2: English: Cold Write – Complete and Edit

Today, if you haven’t finished writing your story, you have the opportunity to finish it today. Once you have finished, make sure you read back through it to ensure it reads correctly and that all punctuation is accurate, especially capital letters and full stops.

Once finished, use the list below to identify where you have used what feature. If you notice you haven’t used a particular feature, can you find a part of your story where it could be used? Use your time today in this session to do some up levelling of your writing to make it the best it can be.

Home Learning – Tuesday 5.1.21

Morning Everyone,

First of all, let me wish you a ‘Happy new year.’

I wasn’t sure whether we would be in this situation again, having to resort to online learning, but here we are again…. I’m really sorry that we can’t all be together again in class but we will be able to organise things a little differently this time and hopefully we can all take part in some live lessons.

For today though, I have put together some links to access the activities that were planned for you to complete in class on your first day back.

Activity 1:

Spelling challenge: How many words can you make by using the letters from

‘Happy New Year Everyone’

1 dojo for every 10 words created and there will be 5 dojos for the longest word created. Send me your lists via class dojo

Activity 2:

English: Watch the video below for an animation called ‘Rooted’. You are going to be writing your own version of this, but for today, I would like you to create a storyboard for the events. Can you divide the story into 8 main parts?

Take an A4 piece of paper and divide into 8 sections and then draw an image for each part of the story along with a short description. This will help you tomorrow when we are going to write our own version of this animation. You may also want to think about some of the features of writing you are going to use. Think about what tools makes a good story?
