Covid Update and Self-Isolation Guidelines

Dear Parents,

I am sure that you would have seen the announcement earlier this week regarding the changes to the self-isolation guidelines which start from today. It is wonderful that after two long years, we are edging towards life without Covid restrictions, although as a community we must be mindful that this elicits different responses in those around us.

The DfE wrote to schools sharing information, which I am sharing with you. The bold text comes directly from the DfE email.

Changes to self-isolation and daily testing of close contacts

From Thursday 24 February, the Government will remove the legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test. Adults and children who test positive will continue to be advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least 5 full days, and then continue to follow the guidance until they have received 2 negative test results on consecutive days. In addition, the Government will:

No longer ask fully vaccinated close contacts and those aged under 18 to test daily for 7 days, and remove the legal requirement for close contacts who are not fully vaccinated to self-isolate.

Staff, children and young people should attend their education settings as usual. This includes staff who have been in close contact within their household, unless they are able to work from home.

You will see that the advice is for people who have Covid to remain at home for at least 5 full days and then follow the guidance until they have received two negative lateral flows.

Although these are now guidelines rather than legal requirements, we hope that parents will choose to adhere to these guidelines for the health and well being of all our families. This will also help to ensure our staff remain well and therefore able to continue to provide high quality education. Your support will hopefully allow us to avoid a situation where, as before the half term break, we were struggling to staff some our classes.

We hope you have all had a restful half term and we looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 28th February.

Many thanks for your support with this matter.

Mrs Williams and Mr Glover

Positive Case COVID-19 Panda Class

FAO: Parents/Carers of children in Panda Class in school on Wednesday 16th & Thursday 17th February

We have been made aware that we have another positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Panda Class at Myddle Primary School.

We have followed the national guidance and have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected person.  In line with the national guidance, your child does not need to self-isolate but we strongly advise that they take a rapid lateral flow device (LFD) test every day for 7 days. If any of these LFD tests are positive they should immediately self-isolate.

If your child develops any of the main COVID-19 symptoms, or any of the precautionary symptoms associated with COVID-19, they must take a PCR test and remain off school until a negative result has been received.

If you have any questions, please contact give the school office a call on 01939 290834. Thank you.

KS2 Gymnastics Competition – Corbet School 14.2.22

Well done to Eve, Ruby, Mia (Y3), Sarah, Ben (Y4), Siena, Amelia (Y5) and Cass, Ariana and Maisie (Y6) who were chosen to represent the school in an event at Corbet School this morning. They had to perform two routines each (a floor and a vault routine) as part of the competition and then the overall scores were added together. Out of the three schools that attended, including Bomere Heath and Kinnerley, Myddle ‘A’ team finished in 1st place. Well done everybody!

Here are some photographs from today’s event….

World Book Day! 3rd March 2022

This year, we are bringing back the fun of World Book Day!

On Thursday 3rd March 2022, children are encouraged to come to School dressed as a character from a book. It can be their favourite character in the whole world, someone from their favourite book or a character from the book they are currently reading at home or at School. They can even just wear their pyjamas and bring in their favourite bedtime story. The important part is to share our passion for reading.

The little ones can tell us a bit about their character and the older children can read a bit of their book to their class, if they wish.

The teachers will plan a day of themed activities and it should be a wonderful day!

New staff welcome and thanks

This week we welcomed Claire Mayle to the Panda class team. Mrs Mayle has been appointed as the full time teaching assistant for Panda class, to replace Mrs Rohr who moved across to the nursery.

We would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Katie Hinton, who has been supporting in Pandas on Fridays, as well as covering in nursery, Tigers and Rhinos most days, as well as her usual dinner supervisor role and her job at Little Angels! Katie has been on hand throughout this difficult period of Covid and always has a smile on her face, despite doing three jobs back to back most days!! Thank you Katie!

We said goodbye to Mary this week, who had been working in Panda class as a supply TA. Mary felt like one of the team, so we were sad to see her go. Thank you Mary for all your hard work in Pandas – I know the children will really miss you.

Football/Basketballs

Due to recent incidents at lunchtime with regards to playing football, we have decided to removed all footballs/basketballs from the PE boxes that the children have access to for tomorrow (4th Feb) and all of next week.

We appreciate that these incidents are not a reflection of all of the pupils but for everyone’s safety and well being we feel this is an appropriate response.

We will reintroduce the footballs/basketballs the week beginning the 14th February.

Thank you
