Year 6 IMPORTANT INFORMATION and dates

Year 6

I hope you all found this morning’s Zoom session with the Corbet useful and reassuring. It was lovely lovely to have had 100% of you online.

We have revieiwed our numbers and staff and now are able to let you know a date for having year 6 back in school. This will be week beginning 22.6.20 . The year 6 children will be able to come for full days, but potentially only 2 days per week (either Monday and Tuesday or Thursday and Friday). Once you have told your teacher via dojo whether you want your child to return, we will allocate you the sessions. If the numbers are low, we will be able to have the year 6 group in 4 days a week.  We didn’t think we would be able to start year 6s so soon, but due to low numbers of other other year groups, we are happy we are able to this. It was so important for us to spend some time with them, especially now that we know there will be no face to face transition time at the Corbet.

If your child is a year 6 that is already accessing the keyworker group, they will not be able to go between 2 bubbles. Therefore, you will be asked to let us know whether you would like them to spend 2 days (or possibly 4 days in year 6), or up to 5 days in the keyworker bubble.

Year 6 times will be 8:50 – 3:00 You must not arrive before 8:45 or you will overlap with the other bubbles.

ACTION: let your teacher know via dojo that you want your year 6 to return on 22nd June

Many thanks,

C. Williams

Panda Class learning w/c 8th June 2020

Overview of learning w/c 8th June 2020

Hi Pandas, I hope you are all well.

We are working on self-esteem and being kind to ourselves this week. The following link is to a story about a bear that doesn’t know who or what he is. This is a good opportunity to think positively and convert any worries in to positives.

In maths we are adding 2 small numbers – there is a worksheet/game for this.               space-add-and-colour-addition-activity-sheet

There are some reading sentences for your child to read – the dots and dashes are for the different phonemes.    space-simple-sentence-cards

There is a worksheet for phonics too looking at finding and circling the correct word.  cvcc-phase-four-circle-that-word-worksheet

Have fun and have a good week.

New one way system at school

From Monday morning (8th June), you will now be greeted by a one way system to guide you through the school grounds. By following Government guidelines, this has to be in place to ensure that social distancing can maintained.

When you arrive at school, and enter through the main playground gate, you will see white markings on the playground to follow and guide through the playground to the exit gate situated near the nursery. On your way through,  you will pass zones marked in blue on the playground for you to use to drop off and collect your children.

Please click on the link below for guidelines and photos of the markings as well as instructions for how the drop off and collections zones are to used.

Drop off and collection at Myddle

This will all seem a little different at first, but as with supermarkets etc, it won’t take long to get used to new ways of having to do things. After all, these measures are only in place to keep everyone as safe as can be.

I will be on the playground on Monday morning to greet you all and we are all looking forward to seeing those of you who are returning.

Thank you for your understanding

Snow Leopards

Hello Snow Leopards,
I hope you all had an enjoyable half term in the sunshine!

Thank you for all of your updates on Class Dojo it has been lovely. From what I can see, your little Snow Leopards are enjoying worksheet activities, so below are some more ideas:

Twinkl –
Letter formation booklet
CVC worksheets/booklets/bingo game
Number matching/Shape sorting
All about numbers 1-10 booklet
Colour by number sheets

Just remember, when working with your child really focus on set 1 sounds and ensure letters are formed correctly. It is important to also focus on pencil grip and control, being able to do all on this will help your child when they are in Panda Class.
Set 1 sounds:

The Part-whole sheet is a way to show children simple addition and change in quantities. Have a little experiment with everyday objects; stones, counters, toys.

Remember, you can always scroll back to earlier posts for extra ideas.
Keep me updated on how you get on this week!

Panda Class learning w/c 1st June 2020

I hope you had a good half term week.

In maths this week we are looking at halving quantities by sharing items into two equal groups. Children should share small quantities out fairly. Talk about unfair sharing, where one person has more/fewer.

Once children are confident with halving small quantities, they can explore sharing between 3 or 4 people. They will notice that there are sometimes leftovers and may come up with how to resolve this. Can you share the left overs?
Provide children with opportunities to share amounts around the home and garden.

The Doorbell Rang story book by Pat Hutchins puts sharing into context of everyday life.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLx7Oxr5ZlU

Bean Thirteen is another story which shows sharing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqFKbdtbiMw
If you want to find the stories read by different people than the ones I’ve found, feel free.

Phonics – Ruth Miskin’s Read Write Inc is still online – I have put a link to the speed sounds which would be really good to revisit frequently.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eh_RQ0Pkhg

In writing children could write a diary of what they have been doing recently.
Encourage children to:
• leave finger spaces between words
• use good ‘pincer’ pencil grip
• start with a capital and finish with a full stop.

Have a lovely week.
