What a strange week

Hi Pandas

What a strange week it has been. But through it all your children have been amazing!

I will be posting messages here and on ClassDojo of links to well-chosen websites and I will be suggesting activities to engage those wonderful minds.

Here’s something to unwind into the weekend – the children have done some of this before and have really enjoyed it.

Have a good weekend and take care Pandas.

News from Panda Class 17th March 2020

Hello Panda Parents/Carers,

I just wanted to share with you some good web sites that offer educational activities for children – should they be needed.

At this age children’s attention span is going to be short – as a rule of thumb: their own age (so 5 minutes if a child is five, and so on), plus or minus 3 minutes. So, not long at all.

Some museums are also offering a virtual tour of the museum too.

Children learn such a lot through play which doesn’t take as much concentration. So whilst web sites are good play situations are really helpful too. For example, you might play a  board game – rolling the dice and recognising the number pattern, taking turns, reading captions etc., are all good ways of learning through play. Baking, reading, colouring, card making, letter writing (to grandma who might be isolated), weaving, model making – the list is endless.

If you go online and there is often a choice of age groups – we are EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage).

Recently we have been looking at space and the planets – comparing size, colour and characteristics of the planets. Writing their names and the descriptions we noticed. We have been writing a list of what we would take to space in our rocket. We have enjoyed the story Whatever Next! too.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Mrs McGrath Maternity Leave

We would like to inform Panda parents that Mrs McGrath’s last day will be Friday 6th March, when she will leave us for her maternity leave. If there is any change to this, we will let you know. We are very fortuate to have our regular supply teacher Amanda Turner ready and waiting to take over as Panda teacher. The children will know Mrs Turner very well as she has done a lot of supply in there already this year and also covered for several weeks in nursery last year.

Panda news

We just wanted to let Panda class know that Mrs Levine had to leave suddenly on Thursday because her father passed away. He lives in Sussex, so Mrs Levine needs to be there to support her mother at this difficult time.

We have a supply TA at the moment but we will be bringing Miss Lewis from Baschurch over to Pandas after that. She has been working at Baschurch for 6 years now and we are really grateful that she is going to move across to Myddle to ensure we have a full time TA in panda class.

If you have any questions, please see Mrs McGrath in the first instance.

Thank-you.
