Y5&6 Timetable

As the ‘Reading The Game’ (English/Football) programme has now finished, PE for children in Y5&6 will now take place on a Wednesday afternoon. For this half term, the children shall be learning and developing their dance skills with Miss Lydia Davies. The second PE session of the week (Johnny Hughes Coaching) will still take place on a Friday afternoon.

Forest School (fingers crossed) will be taking place on Tuesday mornings this half term, starting on the first Tuesday back (6th November). As the children shall be starting their session at 9:10am, it would be easier for the children to arrive at school in the morning wearing their forest school clothing already. They will need to get changed into their school uniforms when their session has ended.

Thanks

Mr Hughes

Football

An entertaining evening of football took place again with Y3&4 mixed and Y5&6 boys football matches at Ruyton School, where Myddle once again took on St John’s and Baschurch in some exciting games.

In the Y3&4 games, there was some great tackling and determination on show, with all 6 members of the team enjoying their first game of the year. After a 2-1 defeat in the first game, we followed that up with another closely fought second match, narrowly losing out 4-3 to Baschurch, with all of our goals coming from Alfie.

The Y5&6 team dominated the first game, but unfortunately lost out 1-0 to Bachurch, but they came out on top 1-0 in the second game against Ruyton, with a penalty from Charlie being the difference between the two teams.

Well done to all of the children who represented their school this evening.

Sophie, Sophie, Alfie, Cass, Alex, Esme, Reuben, Harry, Toby, Henry, Rhys, Jacob, Charlie and Alfie.

Hi 5 Netball

Seven children represented Myddle CE Primary School in a High 5 Netball at the Corbet Secondary School, against 7 other teams. After a comfortable 1-0 win in the opening match against Kinnerley, mistakes were costly in the second game, with Ruyton running out comfortable 4-0 victors. In the third game, the children avoided those earlier mistakes and put in a much improved performance, losing out narrowly 3-2 against Baschurch, despite being in the lead for long periods. The final game saw a 3-3 draw against Nesscliffe, which meant that overall, we finished in 5th place.

Well done to:

Georgia, Maddie, Reuben, Charlie, Oliver, Lily and Megan

Sportsability

Well done to the 10 children (Maisie, Ariana, Izzy, Dylan, Ollie, Blake, Elizabeth, Malachai, Bethany and Lily T), who were chosen to represent Myddle CE Primary School in the Sportsability taster event at Sundorne Sports Village this afternoon. It was great to see so many children represent their school for the first time, taking part in tri-golf, archery, new age kurling and boccia. As usual, you did yourselves and the school proud!

Cross Country

A huge effort from the 22 children who represented Myddle CE Primary School in the first of the four cross event cluster events this year. It was great to see some children take part for the first time, as well as those established runners coming back for more!

On a successful evening, notable performances included Rhys 1st, Charlie 1st, Toby 2nd, Maisie 4th and Lily K 4th.

Everybody did incredibly well and we hope to see you there again after the half term break.

Football

Congratulation to all of the children who represented Myddle CE Primary school in friendly football matches after school today at Ruyton XI Towns. All of the games were closely fought and enjoyable to watch. The boys’ team drew 1-1 (Jacob) and lost 1-0, whilst the girls’ team won 2-0 (Georgia, Maddie) and lost 4-0. Every player got more important minutes on the pitch which will benefit them for their future games. Well played everybody!

Lost clothing

Please can you check inside school bags / PE bags for two missing items of clothing from the children in Jaguar class, listed below.

*1 school shoe (missing since football practise on Friday)

*1 PE shirt with name inside (incorrect shirt taken home)

Kind regards

Y5&6 Tag Rugby

Well done to the squad of eight children who represented Myddle CE Primary School in the Tag Rugby this morning. Overall, we finished in 4th place out of the 7 teams that entered, after competing well in all of the games. Most of the children scored tries but all of the children made excellent contributions in defence too. A solid start to a busy year of sport for the pupils at Myddle!

Forest School Y5&6 Jaguars

Unfortunately, we are still unable to use the forest school area due to not receiving clearance that it is safe to use since the tree collapsed during the Summer holidays. Therefore, forest school art based sessions will continue in the classroom on a Wednesday until further notice.

PS It’s been great to see all of the children reading at home. Thanks for your encouragement and support with this. They are really keen to earn stickers for their reading chart.

Kind regards

Mr G Hughes
