Guided Reading in Rhino Class

Today pupils in Rhino class became text detectives. They had to find and retrieve information to help them answer questions about Roman housing.

After reading the text together, the children used colours to help highlight key information related to each question. This made answering the each question much easier. It also showed the children how important it is to keep referring back to the text.

A huge thank you!

Can I just say a huge thank you to Mr Savage and the team of parents (and children) that gave their time on Saturday to help clear, cut back and plant in our school grounds. It has made a massive difference to the look of our school.

Thank you from all at Myddle Primary School.

Rhino Class Writing

This week, Rhino class completed their Hot Write. This involved the children completing an extended piece of writing in the form of a diary entry.

They had to plan and write a diary entry from the perspective of a Roman soldier. As it was linked in to our class topic, the children were able to use their historical knowledge and use vocabulary they have learnt.

They all worked so hard and I have been very pleased with the work they have produced.

Staff Update

We would like to say a big congratulations to Mrs Dobson who has just secured her dream job working with the school nurses team. Jill joined us in Sunrise Club to get more experience working with children whilst doing her nursing training. She was an absolute natural with the children and we would have loved to keep her, but she has made the difficult decision to continue with her chosen pathway in nursing.  There will be no disruption to Sunrise club, as Sara Russell is continuing to lead it and from mid-November, Rachel Smith will work as the Sunrise assistant.

School Tidy Up Morning – Saturday 9th November

Many Thanks to Mr Savage who has organised a team of parents to come in to school this Saturday, 19th October at 10:30 am to tidy the garden areas.

We are aware that there are other areas around school which need some TLC so we are planning another morning gathering on Saturday 9th November at 10:30 am.

If you are able to help us in anyway please let Mrs Smith in the school office know..

Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us on both mornings
