Kittens!

We had some very special kitten visitors! The children loved meeting Sunshine and Daisy, being careful to be gentle and calm with them. Patrick told the class all about how to look after kittens – how to feed them, entertain them and handle them. Tiger class were fantastic with the kittens! 😺😺

Remembrance Day

Today we visited the church for Remembrance Day. Rev. Clayton did a lovely service where we remembered those who sacrificed their lives in war. We then all gathered to lay our poppies and partake in the 2 minutes silence. The whole school were incredibly respectful and we are so proud of them. The poppies hanging from the church and the poppy displays inside looked wonderful. Back in class, children shared their thoughts on how war may affect people and shared stories of relatives who have fought in war. We discussed why poppies are used as the symbol of Remembrance Day and our hopes for a peaceful world in the future.

🎡 Recorders🎡

In our music lessons we have been learning how to play the recorder. The children have learned several different notes and have started to recognise these notes on sheet music. We have looked at how many beats different types of notes such as quavers and crotchets are worth. We have also enjoyed reading music and performing in groups to an audience on our recorders. 🎡🎢

Magnets

In science, we have started looking at non-contact forces and discussing different types of magnets. We carried out an experiment testing the strength of different magnets. The children are all becoming expert scientists, thinking carefully about what needs to be changed and importantly what needs to be the same each time to ensure it is a fair test. Children recorded their results in a table and then represented these findings in a graph. πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ”¬πŸ§‘πŸ½β€πŸ”¬πŸ§²

Forces investigation

Yesterday, we carried out a science investigation looking at how changing the surface of a ramp would affect the distance a car travels. Children worked together to ensure the test was fair and carefully measured the distance the car travelled.
