PE Kits & Sun Hats/Sun Cream

Please can all children arrive to school in their PE kits every Wednesday and Friday. They will stay in their kit all day. This has worked really well, giving each class extra time for PE and avoided so much uniform getting misplaced.

Please could parents also send their children with a sun hat each day and apply sun cream before school as we are expecting a few nice and warm days!

Staff Room Chairs – Free to Good Home

We have several old staff room chairs which need a new home. They could do with a bit of love and attention but still have a lot of life left in them.

If anyone is interested in them please give Mrs Smith a ring on 01939 290834.

Remember to label your child’s Uniform

As we start the new term and in an attempt to avoid a mountain of lost property, please can you ensure that your child’s uniform is named.

It doesn’t have to be a special label, it can be just written on the garment somewhere so we can make sure we are able to return items straight away.

Your help with this would be gratefully appreciated.

Y5&6 – Welcome back Jaguar class!

Welcome back everybody to a brand new school year. I’m really looking forward to getting started and welcoming our new Y5&6s into the classroom once more. I hope you’ve had an enjoyable break and the children are all refreshed ready for the year ahead. Here are some of the details which are appropriate to the children in Jaguar class for this year.

Teacher: Mr G Hughes
Teaching Assistants / Intervention / 1 to 1 support: (Different days of the week):
Mrs N Davies / Mrs B Jones / Mrs G Harris
Associate teacher (Student teacher): Mrs G Samson

Other teachers during the week:
Mrs Kessel-fell (Music) Thursdays
Mrs Turner (PPA cover) Thursdays
The Wright Way Coaches (Connor / Lucy) Wednesdays and Fridays

PE and Sports Clubs

The teaching of PE shall continue to be on Wednesdays and Fridays. Children should attend school wearing their PE kits on these days. Our first PE session shall begin this Friday 3rd September. After school football clubs shall be starting on the week beginning 13th September. The KS2 GIRLS football club shall be on a Wednesday and the KS2 BOYS football club shall be on a Friday. Both clubs shall be from 3:15pm to 4:15pm and delivered by Connor from The Wright Way Coaching group. Further details regarding these clubs shall be heading your way by the end of this week.

Homework and Reading

Every Friday (apart from this week), the children shall be given a maths and reading homework, along with their weekly spellings. Please ensure that the children show pride in the way that they complete their homework, as well as using suitable writing equipment. The homework needs to be returned by the following Wednesday at the latest to allow me the time to check it prior to the next homework being given. I would like the children to be as independent as possible with their homework but if they need any support at any point, they can ask parents / myself the following day.

It would be very beneficial for the pupils if they could be reading aloud at home at least x3 per week. There shall be a termly class reading competition for the children who read aloud the most at home during the term. The children have been put into groups in the class as their shall be an individual and a group prize.

Class Dojo

The children in Y5 shall be bringing home information to you on Thursday regarding how to access our Class Dojo page. This will allow you to contact myself if and when necessary. For the parents of the pupils in Y6, it has remained the same as last year.

Curriculum: (See attached weekly timetable) This is a draft timetable and therefore will change slightly depending on the position of worships / assemblies during the day / week.

Y5&6 Jaguar Class Timetable New Autumn Term 1

Roles and responsibilities:

Pupils in Y6 have been given new roles to be responsible for this year such as assemby monitors, library monitors, school council, sports leaders, etc… They shall find out their roles when they return back to school on Thursday.

Kind regards

Mr G Hughes

September 2021 – Welcome Back

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back!

We are very much looking forward to welcoming all of our pupils back to school for the start of the new term, as well as welcoming our new nursery and reception pupils who will be joining us this September. We hope you have all had a restful and relaxing summer break.

We are writing to you to inform you of some of the changes in the latest Government guidance which was updated by the Department of Education (DfE) during the Summer Holidays. It is the DfE’s priority for schools to deliver face to-face, high-quality education to all pupils whilst keeping the school communities as safe as possible. Some of the changes made to the guidance, allow schools to operate in a way that was more familiar prior to the pandemic by removing most if not all restrictions. However, we feel as school, we would like to keep some restrictions in place so that we can fully monitor their impact once all pupils and staff return. This way we can either reduce or step up measures accordingly and prioritise everyone’s safety.

School Organisation:

Children are no longer required to keep in strict ‘bubbles’ and pupils can mix between classes when necessary (e.g. assemblies, phonics groups, etc.) However, for at least the first two weeks of term, we will be maintaining our classes as separate bubbles as much as possible. Assemblies and acts of worship will take place in hall but classes will be distanced from each other and windows and doors opened in the hall to allow a good level of ventilation. We will also still have spilt key stage playtimes and lunch times as this eases congestion on the playground.

Drop off and Collection:

We will be maintaining the drop off and collection organisation that was in place during the previous academic year with only a small alteration to some of the timings.

Morning Drop Off:

8.45am to 9am (to allow a natural stagger)

Pupils will enter their classes on arrival at school in the same way at their designated doors:

  • Snow Leopards – Main nursery door
  • Panda – Playground door near nursery
  • Tiger – Main door
  • Rhino – Playground door/Fire exit
  • Jaguar – Fire exit near school entrance

Afternoon Collection:

Pupils will leave their classes through the same designated doors at the following staggered times:

  • Snow Leopards – Individual times communicated to parents
  • Panda: 3pm
  • Tiger: 3pm
  • Rhino: 3.05pm
  • Jaguar: 3.10pm

One Way System:

The one way system will remain around the playground will remain in place to allow a flow of movement and relieve congestion at the school gates.

Face Coverings:

Adults are no longer required to wear face coverings around or within school, but staff and parents/carers will be encouraged to do so.

Over the next few weeks at school, we will be closely monitoring the organisation of the school and if we need to make any changes, we will let you know according. By working together, we can ensure everyone stays safe.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Mr Glover
