Rhino Homework – 21.5.21

This week in maths, we have started looking at time. For homework this week, the children are to complete some activities linked to telling the time via an analogue clock face. These involve the children labelling a clock face, reading some times as well as drawing hands correctly on some empty faces.

Time – Clocks

Below is a helpful song from Numberock with help some of the concepts

Rhino Homework – 14.5.21

This week we have concluded our work on money. However, I feel many of the children could do with some additional practise in calculating change by either counting on or counting back on a number line. The children have been given three calculations to work through and need to work their answer for each on two number lines.

Here is an example to demonstrate the two methods:

Rhino Homework – 7.5.21

For homework this week, I would like the children to produce a poster about the importance of sleep. They can research this and include some of the facts they find out on their poster.

Below is a short video that includes some really useful information:

This week, homework is again focussing on decimal work. In particular halves and quarters and their equivalence as decimals. There are two activities set and you can access them below using the links. Please ensure homework is completed at handed before Thursday so it can be marked before new homework is handed out on the Friday.

Activity 1 – decimal-equivalents-for-halves and quarters (First sheet)

Activity 2 – Halves and Quarters (First sheet)

Additional activities can also be completed if your child would like the extra challenge.

Rhino Homework – 24.4.21

This week’s homework is linked to our current maths topic of decimals. We have been learning about both tenths and hundredths.

I have given the first worksheet from each activity below for homework, but if you click on the links there are also some additional sheets that can be used to extend learning further if you feel it is required or your child would like to complete more work or appreciate a challenge.

Rhino Homework 20.11.20

This week, Rhino class have been learning about calculating perimeter.

When adding together a series of numbers together, please encourage your children to list, pair, reduce and then add. This is when the children list all measurements as an addition and then match pairs to add together to create a second but reduced list of numbers to add. The second, reduced list should be much easier and quicker to add together.

E.g.

list:              6 + 4  + 7 + 3 + 8 + 4 =

Pair:          (6 + 4)  + (7 + 3) + (8 + 4) =

Reduce and add:     10  + 10  +  12  = 36

Rhino Homework 13.11.20

This week, homework is to practise frog club sheets ready for the test next Friday (20.11.20).

Each child has been given 2 sheets, so please encourage them to practise at least twice this week.  If you want to practise more, then further sheets can be accessed on a previous post in the Rhino homework section of the school website.

Many thanks

Rhino Homework 6.11.20

This week, homework looks at how to recognise and write expanded noun phrases.

A noun phrase usually has a determiner (e.g. a or the etc) and a noun ( an object, thing or place etc) For example: a dog or the cinema.

An expanded noun phrase introduces an adjective to describe the noun e.g. a brown dog or the busy cinema.

Below is a video which explains further about expanded noun phrases.
