Updated COVID Guidance

Covid-19 Guidance – UPDATE

As of Monday 4th October, due to a guidance update from our Local Authority, our school Covid-19 guidelines will be changing slightly.

All household contacts of a confirmed positive case should undertake a PCR test, with or without symptoms, and should now remain home and not come into school until a negative PCR is returned.

If the PCR result is negative, then pupils can return to school but we would advise that a further PCR test is taken after 4 or 5 days as a precaution.  Pupils can continue to attend school whilst waiting on the second PCR result.

Rapid lateral flow tests will not suffice.

We now also strongly advise that if your child is feeling at all unwell e.g. cold, headache, sore throat, tummy ache etc. you take them for a PCR test.  Children that test positive do not always develop any of the three main COVID-19 symptoms.

All other guidelines remain the same. Please see table below –

Scenario Next Steps
Child shows symptoms of COVID-19

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste
Child must self-isolate for 10 days, or until a negative PCR test result has been received.

Lateral flow tests should not be used if a child has symptoms.

Child feels unwell e.g. cold, headache, sore throat, tummy ache etc. but has no main COVID-19 symptoms. We would strongly advise that you take your child for a PCR test and keep them at home until a negative result has been received.
Someone in the household receives a positive PCR result. All household contacts of a confirmed positive case should undertake a PCR test, with or without symptoms, and should remain home and not come into school until a negative PCR is returned.

Rapid lateral flow tests will not suffice.

If the PCR result is negative, then pupils can return to school but we would advise that a further PCR test is taken after 4 or 5 days as a precaution.  Pupils can continue to attend school whilst waiting on the second PCR result.

Child is identified as a close contact of someone (outside of their household) who has had a positive PCR result. We would strongly advise that you take your child for a PCR test. However, they can continue to attend school as normal whilst waiting for the results, unless they have any symptoms of COVID-19 or feel at all unwell.

You can book a PCR test by calling 119 or by visiting www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you for your support.

Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA) information for parents

Information for parents and carers of children in reception:

Your child will be participating in the reception baseline assessment (RBA)
within the first 6 weeks of starting reception.
The purpose of the assessment is to provide the starting point for a new measure
that will help parents understand how well schools support their pupils to
progress between reception and year 6 / the end of key stage 2.

The RBA is a short, interactive and practical assessment of your child’s early
literacy, communication, language and mathematics skills when they begin
school, using materials that most children of your child’s age will be familiar with.
It is statutory for all schools from September 2021.

The RBA is not about judging or labelling your child or putting them under any
pressure. Your child cannot ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ the assessment. Its main purpose is to
create a starting point to measure the progress schools make with their pupils. Your child will undertake this as part of their learning through play activities and will and will not feel as though they are being assessed.

This link is to to the full parents information leaflet about the RBA

Lateral Flow Testing

We would like to remind you that if your child develops COVID-19 symptoms (or any illness symptoms), Lateral Flow Tests (LFD tests) should not be used.  LFD tests should only be used when no symptoms are present. If your child develops symptoms, you will need to take them for a PCR test as soon as possible.

If your child has COVID symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or loss of sense of smell/taste), they will not be able to come to school until a negative PCR result has been received, or until they have completed 10 full days of isolation.

Casual Vacancy

Kitchen Assistant

We have an opportunity for a casual kitchen assistant to work in our busy Baschurch kitchen. We provide meals for Baschurch, Myddle and Weston Lullingfields so the ability to work quickly is important.

This would suit someone who can be available, sometimes at short notice, to cover absences in our team. The work will include basic food preparation, washing up, serving meals and cleaning. Training will be provided.

The hours will always be during the school day.

An enhanced DBS check will be required.

If you are interested, please call me on 01939 260443.

Updated COVID Guidance – Sept 2021

We would like to update you on the current guidelines we are following regarding Covid-19 and illness –
If your child is displaying any COVID symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or loss of sense of smell/taste) they must self-isolate for 10 days, or until a negative PCR test result has been received.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.

Any other household members or close contacts will not be required to self-isolate if any of the following apply:

  • they are fully vaccinated – fully vaccinated means that you have been vaccinated with an MHRA approved COVID-19 vaccine in the UK, and at least 14 days have passed since you received the recommended doses of that vaccine.
  • they are below the age of 18 years 6 months
  • they have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • they are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

In a nutshell, primary and secondary school children do not need to isolate if they have contact or live with a positive case, unless they develop symptoms or test positive themselves.

However under these circumstances, even if your child does not have symptoms, we would strongly advise that you take them for a PCR test. They do not have to isolate when waiting for the PCR result unless they have symptoms.

You can book a PCR test by calling 119 or by visiting www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Rapid lateral flow tests should not be used on children if they have symptoms, as these are only to be used when no symptoms are present. You must either book a PCR test or contact school for a home testing kit.

If your child is not displaying any of the above symptoms and is well enough to cope with a full day of school, they can come in.  If your child feels at all unwell before coming to school, please do not send them in. Usually we encourage children to ‘see how it goes’ but in the current circumstances we cannot allow this.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Thank you for your support.
