Tiger Class – Easter Break suggestions

Dear Tigers,

as per my post yesterday, I have prepared a summary of the links and activities I have shared with you during the first two weeks of home-learning, so that you can revisit anything the children particularly enjoyed or explore anything you might have missed the first time around. The idea is that having these resources in a single list would make it easier for you to find anything you are particularly keen to try with the children.

As also mentioned yesterday, I will continue to post ideas of fun activities every weekday in our Class Dojo, in case you need some inspiration of how to keep the cubs occupied (and learning)!

Hope this is useful!

Tiger Update – 17.3.20

Dear Tiger parents / carers,

new Government guidelines is that if anyone in your household is showing symptoms of Corona virus (namely a new persistent cough or a high temperature), you MUST all self-isolate for 14 days. As a result, we are expecting even more children to miss school in the next few weeks. I have decided to share some of the home-learning links I have prepared, earlier than I expected, so families affected can start doing some work at home, if they have a chance.

I also have a home-learning folder ready for each child in our class, ready to be sent home if schools are made to close. So, if your child and the rest of your family is not showing any symptoms, please send them to school as normal and rest assured I am preparing for changes in circumstances.

If, however, your child is unable to attend to school and is well enough to do any work, I have selected 3 websites for us to use, initially:

For Reading: Teach your monster to read: https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/u/4791586

For Maths and English (including Spellings): Emile https://web.emile-education.com/

For Maths, Phonics and Reading: Classroom Secrets Kids https://kids.classroomsecrets.co.uk/

I have created logins for all children and will send you the relevant details via Class Dojos.

This is not an extensive list as I do not wish to overwhelm parents or children. There are thousands of free resources available for all areas of work in School. It is my job to curate the best ones for our class, so if there is anything in particular, you would like, please send me a message via Class Dojo.

I hope this is helpful.

Tiger Class’ Book of the Month – February 2020

Every month, I will try to recommend a book to share with the Tigers. Sometimes, it will link to our Topic work or another subject and sometimes is just a great book to enjoy – reading for pleasure is just as important!

This month, the chosen book is “Kind”, by Alison Green.

With gorgeous pictures by a host of top illustrators, KIND is a timely, inspiring picture book about the many ways children can be kind, from sharing their toys and games to helping those from other countries feel welcome. The book is endorsed by GRUFFALO illustrator Axel Scheffler, and one pound from the sale of each printed copy will go to the Three Peas charity, which gives vital help to refugees from war-torn countries.

Tiger Spellings – 13th February

Please note the children have not been given any new spellings this week. Their spelling books – if brought to School today – will be sent home this afternoon with the results from their latest test.

The books should be brought back to School on Thursday 27th February, when the children will be given the next list of spellings to practice for the following week.

Tiger Class Homework – 13th February

Please note there in NO HOMEWORK for Tigers over half-term. The children have worked extremely hard these last 6 weeks and should just enjoy their well-deserved break.

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs Crowe

Charles Darwin’s birthday!
