Health and Safety Policy

Thank you for drawing our attention to the fact that an out of date H&S policy was appearing on the school website.

We have now uploaded the current one which will be reviewed, as usual, during the Autumn Term.

Please be assured that this was an administrative error and the policy is reviewed annually by the School Governors.

Summer Holiday Sport Club – Jonny Hughes

We have been asked to share this message from Jonny Hughes.

Shrewsbury Town in the Community are trying to gauge if there is a demand for a multi sport Summer camp to be delivered from St John the Baptist CE Primary School – Ruyton.
All of our sessions are fun and inclusive but importantly follow the correct social distancing guidelines and policies set by the Government.

Important information re. holidays this term

Dear parents and carers,

We have had a few people let us know that they are taking a family holiday before we break up from school this term.  For the children that are currently in school with us, there won’t be any penalty for doing this. However, you will not be able to bring your child back into school into one of our bubbles when you return from holiday. Despite the fact that there have been some easing of regulations and to isolating rules following travel abroad, we are not prepared to take the risk of someone re-entering school having been to a different country, or indeed a different part of this country. We hope you understand the reasoning behind this and will support us with this decision. It would not be fair to the school staff or the rest of the children in the bubble to introduce this risk so near to the end of term.

Please also be aware that if you are not adhering to the government distancing regulations out of school, we have the right to ask that your child does not attend school at this time. We have had several children tell us about sleepovers, going in each other’s paddling pools, parties and suchlike. We know that these could be within the guidelines: maximum of 6 people from a maximum of two households, keeping 2m distance at all times, or with a newly formed ‘support bubble’. However, we must ask you to be very honest and not send your child to school please if you think you have operated outside of these rules.

Thank you very much for your support. Everything is going really well at school and we are looking forward to getting everyone safely to the end of term.

Joining nursery – September 2020

Starting nursery is a very exciting time. I want to do my very best to ensure that children learn and grow, they feel happy and are supported along their learning journey. As we know starting nursery can be an overwhelming and daunting time for children and parents, particularly this year due to COVID-19. So I wish to ensure a positive and smooth transition as your child starts at our nursery.

You can read all the relevant information on our website, through the link ‘Joining’ then click ‘Nursery’. This information will help prepare you and your child for their start with us at Myddle nursery in September.

If you require any extra information or you wish to speak to me directly about registering your child, please feel free to e-mail through to nursery@myddle.shropshire.sch.uk or call on 01939 290268. I will be available daily until 12pm except Wednesdays as school is closed.

I look forward to hearing from you

Jodie Phillips (Nursery Leader)

Shropshire Music Service – Autumn Term Instrumental Lessons

Dear Parent
Shropshire Music Service have been offering free online instrumental lessons this term.  From September we will need to start charging for lessons as normal.  As our teachers are not yet allowed to visit schools, the highly successful online teaching will continue for the Autumn term.

Shropshire Music Service will be billing parents directly while online lessons are taking place. This will definitely be the case for lessons delivered in the Autumn term. To sign up, please complete the attached application form and arrange payment in advance of lessons beginning. You can do this now to ensure all is in place in good time. We will be unable to start lessons until payment has been received.

As our staff are working from home, please contact the Music Service by email if you have any queries and one of our staff will contact you.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Year 6 Leavers Hoodies

A Massive “THANK YOU” to Mrs Cheryl Collins who kindly organised the hoodies for this years leavers. She volunteers to do this every year but we know that this year has been quite a challenge.

The hoodies have been hand delivered to the Year 6 pupils by Mr Hughes and Mrs Smith and according to reports from home,  have been living in them ever since 🙂

New one way system at school

From Monday morning (8th June), you will now be greeted by a one way system to guide you through the school grounds. By following Government guidelines, this has to be in place to ensure that social distancing can maintained.

When you arrive at school, and enter through the main playground gate, you will see white markings on the playground to follow and guide through the playground to the exit gate situated near the nursery. On your way through,  you will pass zones marked in blue on the playground for you to use to drop off and collect your children.

Please click on the link below for guidelines and photos of the markings as well as instructions for how the drop off and collections zones are to used.

Drop off and collection at Myddle

This will all seem a little different at first, but as with supermarkets etc, it won’t take long to get used to new ways of having to do things. After all, these measures are only in place to keep everyone as safe as can be.

I will be on the playground on Monday morning to greet you all and we are all looking forward to seeing those of you who are returning.

Thank you for your understanding

Mr P. Glover
