Working from home Y5&6 Jaguar class Monday 23rd March 2020

Hi everybody,

Hopefully everybody is safe and well, and you’ve been able to spend quality time with each other during the weekend so far. Below is a timetable for Monday’s schooling from home.

If you can’t access the attachments at home for whatever reason, I shall be in school on Monday from 8:15am onwards to provide hard copies of any activities that are listed below, which I shall leave in the reception area of school. Hopefully, all of the children now have their Maths/English book at home to use for their daily work. I shall also leave others books in the reception area of the school that the children are likely to need during the week, ie, sketch book, science, topic, RE, etc……

Giraffe’s journey continues

This week, we had to say goodbye to our recycling giraffe friend from the British Ironworks, as he journeyed onwards to Sundorne Infants school. Thank you to everybody who has saved up and handed in their bottle tops over the last 4-5 months, which meant that we could’ve filled 2 giraffes if needed! ‘Creativity’ is the word now as we need to decide what to create from those bottle tops. Any suggestions then please let us know! This would make a really good project for the children who will be at the school during the next couple of months.

A fantastic performance from the Myddle CE Primary School Indoor Athletics squads this evening at the Corbet School. The pupils took part in a selection of running, throwing and jumping events and each pupil’s score was vital towards the overall result. Y5&6 Boys Football

A great performance from the boys who were chosen today to represent the school in a Y5&6 boys football tournament at Shrewsbury High Prep School. It was pleasing, but not surprising to hear all of the positive comments about our pupils in how they conducted themselves both on and off the pitch.

Here are the results from the fixtures:

Baschurch 0-4 Myddle

Myddle 3-0 St George’s

Myddle 0-0 Bishop’s Castle

Myddle 0-1 Shrewsbury

Myddle 0-1 Radbrook

Myddle 1-1 Longnor

After the six games, we finished in third place overall. Well done!

Y5&6 Flaxmill Visit

The children in Jaguar class had a wonderful time on their visit to the Flaxmill in Shrewsbury today. Not only did they develop their understanding of pulleys, they also learned a great deal about the history of the Flaxmill and what life was like for those who worked there. The children really enjoyed using the Lego construction kits to create their own working pulleys. Here are some of the images of the morning.

KS2 Tag Rugby

Congratulations to the 11 children in KS2 who were chosen to represent the school in a Tag Rugby tournament this morning at Corbet School. They performed with great skill, speed and positional awareness during all of the 7 matches that they played. Overall, Myddle finished in joint fifth place but on another day could easily have won the event as they were one of the strongest teams in the event. That’s how close the matches were.

If your child is interested in playing in more tag rugby (or tackle) events in the future, contact Shrewsbury Rugby Club or Oswestry Club for more details.

Well done to:

Reuben, Rhys, Jacob, Henry, Toby, Harvey, Cass, Elizabeth, Zoe, Holly and Sophie

Y5 Maths Event

A huge well done to the 5 children who represented Myddle CE Primary School in a Maths competition at Oswestry School today. Out of the 17 schools who took part, Heidi, Amy, Nelly, Cameron and Alissa finished in 3rd place overall. Great mathematical puzzle solving everybody!
