Archery

Congratulations to the Myddle archers who this evening performed in the competition at the Corbet School. 12 schools took part and the standard was very high. The Myddle ‘2’ team (Lily K, Lily T, Lucy, Bethany, Bethany and Alfie R) performed very well on the target board in particular) to finish in 5th place overall, whilst the Myddle ‘1’ team (Harry, Alfie S, Cass, Jacob, Reuben and Harvey) were outstanding at the distance event but also achieved some excellent scores on the target board also, which meant that they finished in 1st position overall and qualified through to the next stage in a month’s time.

It’s good to see that the investment in archery boards at school is paying off!!

Sports hall Sportsability event

Congratulations to the children who represented Myddle CE Primary School and finished 1st in the Sports hall Sportsability competition at Ellesmere College on Tuesday. They represented their school with great enthusiasm, fair play and a determined attitude.
The squad for this event was: Izzy, Heidi, Dante, Elizabeth, Bethany, Malachai, Lucy and Alissa.

Basketball

Myddle CE Primary were represented by two teams in this evening’s basketball tournament at Corbet School. Team 2  (Alfie, Harry, Oliver, Cassie and Ruby) competed well in each game of their group, making it difficult for their opponents to score .  The boys especially looked very dangerous on the break and on many occasions scored some great shots. By the end of the groups stage, we had won 1 and lost 3 of our matches.

Team 1 (Reuben, Georgia, Charlie and Lily) finished runners up in their group of four teams ensuring that they reached the semi-finals, where they were unfortunate to come up against a VERY TALL Baschurch team. Despite the huge height difference, we shown great speed on the counter attack, only losing 3-1 by full time.

Well done to all of the children who took part and thank you to the parents for helping to transport the children to and from the event.

Skiing winners!

Yet again, Myddle CE children proved their quality in sport – this time in Skiing. A huge well done to Zoe Harris, Lily Thomas and Dylan Thomas who represented the school in a skiing event in Telford and finished in 1st place. A fantastic achievement!

Intra-House sports event

Prior to the Christmas break, all of the children competed in an intra-house new age kurling event. Congratulations to Wrekin house, who won the event by 1 point.

The full results were:

1st – Wrekin 76 points

2nd – Pimhill 75 points

3rd – Haughmond 57 points

4th – Grinshill 30 points

Spring Half Term 1

Dear Parents

I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely Christmas with your children and I wish you a very happy New Year.

You shall be receiving a newsletter on Tuesday 8th January which will state the new topics that we shall be learning during the Spring Term. However, here are some important details that you need to know before the term starts.

PE this half term shall be on Tuesdays (indoor) and Fridays (outdoor). Please make sure that the children have the correct school PE kit on these days, but on Fridays, I am happy for them to wear tracksuits bottoms, fleece, gloves, hats, etc… over the top of their PE kit to keep them warm.

Forest school will continue on a Tuesday morning but will NOT start on the first day back at school. Therefore, the first Forest School session will be on Tuesday 15th January.

Should you have any questions, please do ask.

Kind regards

Mr Hughes

Half Marathon Challenge

It has been great to see the response for the number of children who shall be taking part in the half marathon challenge later in the academic year. So far, we have over 40 children who have paid their entry fee of £6. This Friday 21st December is the final day for any further entries, as names and numbers have to be submitted to the organisers on this date.
