Spring Half Term 1

Dear Parents

I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely Christmas with your children and I wish you a very happy New Year.

You shall be receiving a newsletter on Tuesday 8th January which will state the new topics that we shall be learning during the Spring Term. However, here are some important details that you need to know before the term starts.

PE this half term shall be on Tuesdays (indoor) and Fridays (outdoor). Please make sure that the children have the correct school PE kit on these days, but on Fridays, I am happy for them to wear tracksuits bottoms, fleece, gloves, hats, etc… over the top of their PE kit to keep them warm.

Forest school will continue on a Tuesday morning but will NOT start on the first day back at school. Therefore, the first Forest School session will be on Tuesday 15th January.

Should you have any questions, please do ask.

Kind regards

Mr Hughes

Half Marathon Challenge

It has been great to see the response for the number of children who shall be taking part in the half marathon challenge later in the academic year. So far, we have over 40 children who have paid their entry fee of £6. This Friday 21st December is the final day for any further entries, as names and numbers have to be submitted to the organisers on this date.

Hockey tournament

Well done to the children who were chosen to represent Myddle CE Primary School in this morning’s hockey tournament at Corbet School. We had two squads entered, with one our teams finishing in 2nd place out of the 8 teams, to qualify through to the next stage.???

The squads were:

Squad 1: Charlie, Maddie, Georgia, Alfie, Merci and Reuben

Squad 2: Blake, Lily K, Cameron, Rhys, Lucy and Bethany

Indoor Athletics

On a very exciting evening at the Corbet School, our Indoor Athletics squad gave it their all against 6 other local schools. All of the children took part in either/both field and track events, which all contributed to the overall score at the end of the competition. When the positions were announced, the Girls team (Lily K, Maddie, Cassie, Ruby, Chloe, Zoe, Georgia and Merci) finished in 4th place whilst the Boys team (Charlie, Rhys, Toby, Harvey, Henry, Alfie, Oliver, Harry and Reuben) finished in 2nd place, narrowly losing out by 2 points to the winners, St John The Baptist, Ruyton XI Towns. A great effort from all of our pupils, who supported their team mates really well throughout!

Children in Need

A big thank you for all the teddy and book donations today. The non-uniform donations, loose change collection and  teddy / book sales made a total of over £200, which beat our 2017 amount of £196. The school council children should be really proud of themselves as they came up with all of the ideas and helped enormously during the day!
