Safer School Meeting 2022 – UPDATE

We had a good meeting today with Ian Bartlett, Crime Prevention Officer from Shropshire Council, Many thanks for all of the questionnaire which were returned.

It is, and always has been a great concern about the road/crossing outside school and the traffic passing through the village and this was evident in the parent questionnaires. Sadly the safer school scheme only relates to the school building and its grounds NOT the road outside.

We have asked Ian for his advice and he has recommended that ANY incidents/near misses outside of the school building relating to the traffic or any issues crossing the road etc, should be informed to school. We will then log these and have the evidence to back up the community/parents & staff concerns.

If anyone would like to discuss this further please call in to the school office and speak to Mrs Smith.

‘Brazil’ workshop

We all had a fantastic day! There are many photos and videos to be shared soon. This is just a snapshot of the Brazil-themed workshop.

All children attended 4 different sessions, exploring our Christian values, diversity, learning about other cultures and respect in sport. The energy in School was fantastic and the whole atmosphere was wonderful.

During the Brazil workshop, Mrs Crowe spoke about growing up in South America, shared some interesting facts and introduce the traditions of Carnival. All children decorated a carnival mask to take home. The results were very impressive indeed!

Our ‘Wonderfully Made’ Day

Today the children took part in a ‘Wonderfully Made’ day. This was intended to teach the children about diversity and how we are all different as well as the importance of respect.

The children rotated around 4 different activities, which included:

Values through Art

Brazilian Culture

Respect in Sport

Bhangra Dancing

It was an excellent day, made even better by the beautiful sunshine. The children learnt a lot about the diverse world we live in and the importance of treating everybody with dignity and respect. The day concluded with a real celebration in the school hall, where children and staff took part in various Bhangra style dances.
