Panda Class Home Learning Thursday 28th January

Thursday 28th  January

It’s nearly Friday… you’ve been working so hard doing lots of lovely things and importantly doing the other things you love too, like walking, bird-spotting, enjoying birthdays and painting!

All Pandas

Phonics – Ruth Miskin Live Lessons for Set 1,2 & 3 schedule.

Carry on with your set’s schedule each day.

I have added a sheet with all of the sounds in each set.

Have a look at this blending game from Oxford Owl (Reception)

English – Year 1

Lesson 8 The Magic Paint Brush

To write a story with clear moods (Part 1). In this lesson, we will begin to write the ‘Magic Paintbrush’ story focusing on the mood created.

Lesson 6 – The Noisy House.  To recycle a nursery rhyme.

In this lesson, we will be recycling a nursery rhyme.

Enjoy this story with a similar theme to the Noisy House, it’s a Squash and a Squeeze by Julia Donaldson.

Worksheets are not ideal, but at the moment are probably the best option. However, if parents/carers want to supplement maths objectives with some items and ideas from home, please feel free –  to reinforce the learning concepts. For example, ordering and sequencing numbers on cards; questioning which number has more or fewer; getting them to represent it using 10s and 1s drawings. Board games such as Snakes and Ladders would be great to discuss place value.

Maths – Reception

representing 6,7 & 8 cards

These ‘cards’ can be printed out, then cut up. (I can photocopy some if needed and leave them in the front of school – just let me know) Turn one card over at a time and count how many each picture is representing, then group the cards with matching numbers.

Have fun with this activity sheet – use your favourite colours.

Can you spot anything at home with the number 6, 7 & 8?

Science -Aimed mainly at Year 1 but Reception can take part too if you would like to.

In this lesson, we will be learning about the differences between invertebrates and vertebrates. All animals can be classified as either invertebrates which do not have a backbone or vertebrates which have a backbone. We will be identifying different animals from these classifications.

There is a quiz to begin with and then the lesson. There are worksheets (access these by clicking on the green circles at the bottom of the screen), which can be printed out or if you prefer, just ask your child the questions on the slides (click on ‘slide’ at the bottom of the worksheet page), and talk it through or even better still draw to show what you have learnt.

Reception – Do you fancy having  a look at the features of sea creatures?  If so, dive in and have a look – there is some junk modelling involved too!

Then, when you’ve finished, sit back and enjoy this story. You deserve a big rest!

Good luck everyone and have a really lovely day!

Best wishes

Mandy Turner
