If you child is taking part in the Cross Country on Friday 31st Jan and you intend on going along to watch and bring them back, please see below the arrangements we have received from Oswestry School regarding parking and access. If your child is returning to school on the bus please ignore.

Cross Country – Oswestry School – SY11 2TL

Head to the pavilion on the Maes-Y-Lan fields – on the left hand side of the road as you drive away from Oswestry town centre. Parking is extremely limited so please if parents are attending they will NEED to park in the town centre and walk to the school.

Marvellous Magnets

This week, Rhino class conducted a fair test to find the strongest type of magnet.

The children planned an investigation which involved seeing how many paper clips each magnet could hold. Before testing each of the different types of magnet, the children predicted which they thought would be the strongest.

After the they had finished, they had some quite surprising results which led to a great discussion in class.

A Perfect Performance

On Monday, pupils from Myddle and Baschurch attended Young Voices.

We set out at midday and arrived in good time ready for the rehearsals before the main event at 7pm.

With performances from likes of The Shires, Ruti (2018 winner of the Voice) and the legendary Tony Hadley, We knew we were in for a real treat. The children were in fine voice too and sang and danced their hearts out. It was an amazing experience. To hear over 6000 children singing together as one is something quite special.

Well done everyone.

Young Voices 2020

The pupils and staff had a brilliant time at Young Voices 2020. A few pictures attached of the event and our fantastic pupils who behaved themselves impeccably!

Sorry Fans of Tony Hadley, no photo’s of him!!

Young Voices Update

They have just left, traffic is very heavy. They anticipate to arrive back in Myddle for approximately 10:45pm

Tik Tok Safety

Please can we ask you to have a really good look at the attached poster about the Tik Tok App. This is a very popular app which is lots of fun for young people.

We know that it is used widely by children in our school, so we want to make sure parents know what it’s about and how to keep children safe. Some of our children do not have private or restricted profiles, and this leaves them vulnerable to predators.

The poster explains all the pros and cons, but a quick summary is below:

Concerns with the app:

Rate 12+, Online Predators, explicit song lyrics, in-app purchases, addictive, abusive comments on videos.

Things you can do:

Enable restricted mode, make sure your child knows how to report inappropriate comments or content, set privacy, restrict screen time.

Tiger Class Trip

Please return the permission slips for our Shrewsbury Trip by Thursday 30th January.

Many thanks,

Mrs Crowe

Tiger Class – Book of the Month – January 2020

Every month, I will try to recommend a book to share with the Tigers. Sometimes, it will link to our Topic work or another subject and sometimes is just a great book to enjoy – reading for pleasure is just as important!

This month, the chosen book is “Charles’ Darwin On the Origin of Species”, by Sabina Radeva.

This is a beautifully illustrated introduction to Charles Darwin’s ideas. We currently have a couple of copies of this in our class, so the children have been able to explore it a bit already.
