Ancient Egyptian Workshop

We were excited to take part in a fantastic Egyptian workshop! Children enjoyed a variety of activities handling real and replica artefacts from ancient Egyptian life. They designed and made their own clay amulets and cracked the hieroglyphic code! We then looked at different people from ancient Egyptian society – discussing their jobs, lifestyle and clothes. Finally, we mummified Emma! We followed all the different steps such as washing the body, removing the organs and wrapping the body to create the perfect mummy!

Tiger class really impressed our visitor with both their history knowledge and their wonderful behaviour and attitude. Well done Tigers! 🐯

Being thankful

We have been discussing in class the importance of being thankful for what we have in life and understanding that not everyone is as fortunate as us. At Christmas time in particular it is important to realise how lucky we are and remember to be grateful for the important things in life and that Christmas isn’t just about gifts. Tiger Class have been fantastic in our discussions and gave some really deep, heart-felt views on what is significant in life and shared how other children’s lives might be very different to ours. We have made our Christmas tree a ‘tree of thankfulness’ and the children wrote their own thankful notes to hang on it. πŸŽ„

Shropshire Fire and Rescue visit

Tiger class were excited this week to be visited by the Shropshire Fire and Rescue team who spoke to the children about fire safety. They explained the different kinds of jobs the fire brigade attend such as fires, road traffic accidents and rescuing people or sometimes animals that are stuck. We talked about what to do if we spot a fire or are trapped in a fire. The children all listened so well and we had some great discussions in class.
